APHAx (Audlem Public Hall Annexe) committee have won an award from The Woodland Trust, a charity supported by Sainsburys, Ikea, the People's Postcode Lottery and Yorkshire Tea.

We have been granted thirty plants which will eventually grow to provide nearly ten yards of hedging, with a variety of different types of plant.

Delivery will take place early is March and arrangements have been made to store the plants nearby until the landscaping work on the Annexe is due (in fact Ralph has kindly agreed to store them in the cemetery grounds).

The Woodland Trust says

"Hedges are a great natural alternative to fencing, an ideal way to screen off existing unattractive fencing or make fencing more private, and best of all hedges are brilliant for wildlife too. Insects and birds love them and in the right places, they can help connect existing woods and hedges creating 'wildlife corridors' helping creatures such as hedgehogs and dormice move more safely through the landscape. You'll get six each of hawthorn, hazel, holly, dog rose and dog wood – this will create eight meters of easy-to-manage hedging."

Wybunbury Moss

Our picture shows Wybunbury Moss, which is the nearest woodland to Audlem which is supported by the Woodland Trust.
