The 'Firstnighter' review of last week's panto wasn't, it appears, to
one correspondent's taste who says he was "quite surprised to read some
of the comments...Did he really hear over prompting in the first
witches' scene because no one I spoke to was aware of any offstage help."
Firstnighter's reference to a Monty Python opportunity was, in our
correspondent's view, very dated while other brilliant performances than
just Snow White and Gaston should have been mentioned. Firstnighters's
reference to jokes being "old chestnuts" also arouses some comment – "Old
groaners are what pantomime is all about."
Fortunately both critics agree that the production was a great success
and both say well done to 5As. And both, we know, are looking forward to
next year's production.
If anybody else amongst the hundreds who attended the 4-show run would
like to add their comments, Audlem Online will be delighted to publish them.
