Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is confident that it is once again prepared to handle another threat of industrial action – although it is calling on the public to be extra vigilant.
Members of the Fire Brigades Union have announced a further strike tomorrow, November 13 between 10am and 2pm.
Cheshire's Chief Fire Officer, Paul Hancock, said: "I would firstly like to thank the public for their support during the first three periods of industrial action and ask that they continue to take extra care during the upcoming strike to ensure they stay safe.
"We do have plans and procedures in place that will enable us to continue to protect the communities of Cheshire during strike periods. However, as we do have less fire engines available we need people to be extra vigilant to avoid incidents.
"As this action is taking place over lunchtime be especially careful when cooking, as this is the biggest cause of accidental fires. Remember to make sure you have a clean grill and don't leave any form of cooking unattended.
"We would also advise people and businesses to avoid doing anything else that could increase the risk of a fire breaking out and ensure that you take extra care while driving."
The Fire Service is also reminding people to make sure that they have a working smoke alarm installed and that they know exactly how to get out of their home if a fire was to break out.
A spokesman added: "It is important to highlight that the strikes being proposed relate to national issues rather than local ones and that action will only be taken by those staff that are members of the Fire Brigade's Union.
