Another Scam?

Mindful of how many recent scams have been reported on this site I was on alert when answering my mobile to someone who had difficulty pronouncing my name claiming to be calling from United Utilities.

The conversation went something like this:

Caller: This is United Utilities calling about your water bill. First I have to ask you some security questions.
Me: Surely as you called me and know my name, and I don't know who you are I should be asking you security questions?
Caller: We can't proceed with the call unless you answer the security questions.
Me: Well as you called me, it's you who wants to speak to me, not the other way round then you should be answering my security questions, perhaps you should try contacting me in a different way, goodbye.

Afterwards I thought, yep, definitely a scam, I have never been contacted other than by letter by the water company, any changes to my bills etc have always come via letter. How would they even have my mobile number?

Most of the time I cut into any spiel about slow running computers with the question: "How did you get this number?" Which usually results in some rather suspect mumbling and a polite goodbye from me.

On this occasion I was out on a brisk walk round Buntingsdale and in the mood for a lively debate!

Here is a picture of Buntingsdale Hall rife with snowdrops, taken on Wednesday.
