Another road closure

There are, as yet, no notices up on the A529 (Green Lane road to Market Drayton) to inform drivers that it will be closed this coming Sunday through Swanbach as far as Bagley Lane, and some of the details of possible diversions are still unclear.

We understand the closure is for BT to do essential telegraph pole maintenance mostly between Mill Lane and Bagley Lane so it appears there is no short detour via Mill Lane on this occasion!

Steve Allcock from Scottish Power said at Monday's Audlem Parish Council meeting that he is also hoping to make use of the road closure for some electricity pole replacements which would be further towards the village.

BT have not been in touch with the Parish Council at all, a big contrast with the level of communication from Scottish Power. Cheshire East council have, however, in their road closure notification, indicated that the road will be closed from Audlem to Market Drayton. Audlem PC are trying to clarify if this correct.

This work was originally scheduled for later in the month but has been recently brought forward.

Local residents should note the forthcoming closure as it could be a considerable nuisance for people especially as it coincides with Mothering Sunday.
