What a wonderful afternoon it was as the Public hall annexe was officially opened. Several hundred residents from the Audlem and surrounding villages gathered to see the High Sheriff of Cheshire, our local MP, Leader of Cheshire East Council and Parish Council Leader open the Annexe to our Public Hall.
The Duffy Boys started the event in a light hearted manner with their own song about "a bit on the side". This was followed by a welcoming address from Roland Hall, Chairman of the APHAx Committee, members of which, managed the project from concept to fruition. He thanked the Big Lottery Fund for their tremendous financial support and local councils and residents for all their support. He concluded by saying that he believed the new building would be a major benefit to all ages in the village for many years to come.
Sarah Calandar Beckett, High Sheriff of Cheshire, responded by saying how pleased she was to be invited to open the new building especially given the close business relationship she has with the village and how a Combermere Abbey ancestor attended school in Audlem. Her description of herself as the High Sheriff of Sherry enabled an amusing address followed by induction on the Gym machines by Ben and Adriana. The tape was cut and a bouquet of flowers presented by Pip Bonell, Harry Cottrell and Elliot Ayers.
Audlem Voices welcomed people into the Annexe with a short concert displaying their tremendous local singing talent and Rose Consterdine and friends followed on stage.

The afternoon was completed by a super glass of bubbly and finger buffet.
