AFC Match Report

Sunday 11th October

My mind flying all over the place in this early morning .
Have had a week with Microsoft having screwed up my pc and my iPad . Getting there gradually with the aid of two of my sons . Being totally hamhanded in such matters.

So, nearly back to my usual state vis a vis the internet etc and my address book.

A bit more meandering. On Friday I bought some asparagus tips from our superb COOP . £1 for 8. Seems so immoral -- was that we have this little bag flown all the way from Lima to eventually land on a shelf here in Audlem . Something seems not right given our real need to stop this world of ours sinking beneath the pollution and plastic we are stuffing down it's throat .

But . Down to earth and to football.

Today we face top of the table Broadhurst F C . Riding high and playing very well. Another long journey to Winnington , outside Northwich .
Before we start play I attend on behalf of Audlem F C , a brief celebration of Alan, recently deceased and having been associated with their club for well over 50 years. This was followed by an immaculately observed 1 minute silence on the centre circle by all players etc.

Kick off

Pitch in good order , well drained but sadly the lines are virtually non existent . Bright sunny day -- some very high cirrus in a startlingly blue sky and warm .
As usual, frantic start as players warm up and the testosterone rises.
( Seb Burrows pays over the £12 he was fined for a yellow last game -- our first card of the season.)

First real attack on goal and we hit the side netting.

So hope we are not in for a hammering .

Free kick to us . Results in the first corner and again for us. No gain.

Two mistakes -- and we are two down. Poor play .
Still attacking and we win another corner -- but no gain. Clouds drifting away slowly .

Great racing run by Will Cork as he attacks their goal. His shot sadly hits the side netting.
Best chance so far.
Referee books BFC player. For a foul and then sin bins him for foul language . 10 minutes to cool down and a chance for us versus 10 men.
Free kick to BFC , straight at our goal, but Connor Baxter tips it over the bar.

0-3 . Stupid soft goal.
We were sliced apart.

Free kick to us from what suspiciously looks like inside their box. But. No. And no gain.

Half time .
Second half and manager Kev Mort plays subs. On come Alyn Burcea and new signing Paul Bowker.
Mark Parker off. As is Sam Mason .
Warmer still now as fluffy white cumulus have replaced the high cirrus .
James Bebbington comes off and Seb Burrows comes into the play.

Viscous tackle on Will Cork and referee books the offender.
Shape in nowhere near as good as last week and our first half was poor .
We are shaping better in this half but cannot get a clear shot on goal.

Kev plays more subbing and on comes Ben Walker. Jack Welch off and Chris Messe -- new player comes on .
Rest of the game better by us but not good viewing . Trying our hardest to at least get a goal.
But no go.

Full time and all troop off. Changing in a damp rutted car park .
Team drive off to meet at The Rifleman in Nantwich . To welcome snack Chicken pie
