At the ADCA (Audlem & District Community Action) Annual General Meeting last week, Chairman Roger Millns reported on a successful year for ADCA.

History

Roger outlined the history and growth of ADCA from its inception in 2011 with 10 members, 12 volunteers and 2 staff, to the present numbers of 90 members, 44 carers in the Carers Support Group, 45 "amazing" volunteers and 2 hard working and committed member of staff who run the service with the members.

ADCA now run the Medical Transport Service, which has been used by 30 people, many of them on a regular basis.

Support for ADCA

ADCA continues to receive support from Cheshire East, with a three-year contract for the Day Club services and also a grant to set up the Transport Service and funding for Carers Support.

Other support has been gratefully received from

  • Audlem Charity Shop – a donation of £4,000.
  • Hankelow Chapel – premises for the Day Club
  • Allan and Jo at the Lord Combermere – premises for the Coffee Club and, as a temporary measure, the Day Club while improvements are carried out at Hankelow Chapel..
  • Andrew Bradshaw – auditing the accounts.
  • Graham Tressider – office accommodation.
  • Audlem Parish Council – general support and encouragement.

Public Hall Annexe

ADCA now looks forward to the building of the Public Hall Annexe (towards which ADCA has promised a funding contribution of £5,000), which will provide excellent facilities for ADCA activities.

Volunteers

Finally, Roger reiterated how vital the services of volunteers are to ADCA's operations, and he appealed for new volunteers whether for helping with the Day Club, Medical Transport or Befriending.
