The A525 appears to have been reopened sometime after 3pm today.
The closure reported yesterday for repairs to the water main is still in place as far as lorries are concerned, although apparently cars can get past with difficulty..
And very nice and quiet it is, too.
Meanwhile the recommended diversion given by Cheshire East is reported to be:-
"The alternative route will be via the following streets: – Woore Road,A51 At Willoughbridge A0051, A51 From Stafford County Boundary to Irelands Cross A51, A529 From Adderley Lodge to Start of Adderley Road Market Drayton A529, A529 From Adderley to Cheshire County Boundary A529, A53 Adderley Road Roundabout A53, A53 From Adderley Road Roundabout to Newcastle Road A53, Access Roads Beside A51, Adderley Road A529, Audlem Road A525, Boons Bank A0053, Green Lane A529, London Road B5026/A51, Market Drayton Road A0053, Nantwich Road A0051, Newcastle Road A0053, Newcastle Road A53, Salford, Shropshire Street A525, Stafford Street A525, The Square A51, Woore Road A525"
Search parties will be sent out for anybody who attempts this and hasn't been heard of since.
Ed: Your roving reporter went in search of the problem just before lunch and took the photo of the hole just being resurfaced. The work men thought that the road would be reopened in the near future – maybe later today
