The 1st XI returned to winning ways last Saturday with a convincing 6-wicket victory over visitors Norbury.

Norbury won the toss and elected to bat on a hard wicket and made a steady if unspectacular start moving along at around 3 runs per over. Simon Swift and Stuart Elkes toiled for little reward until the former's clever off cutter bowled the Norbury skipper. The breakthrough set the stage for Elkes to rip the heart out of the visitors' middle order as his in swinging deliveries snared three batsmen lbw and saw a further opponent caught behind. His spell returned 4 for 19 while Swift continued to graft at the other end and was unlucky to see several deliveries miss the outside edge of the bat in a superb display of bowling.

Audlem struggled to remove the stubborn left handed opener Neil Robinson, however support from the lower order meant a challenging total was still very possible. Neil Humphries had other ideas, and claimed the first of his two wickets bowling Robinson for28. At the other end Tahir Hussain claimed two victims and Humphries effected a run out to close Norbury's innings on 82.

The home side took just 15 overs to reach their target and secured victory with 44 overs remaining in the match. Kemal Toraman made 32 before he was run out by Qhama Matthews, who atoned for his misjudgement with an unbeaten 19. Chris Shenton fell to a good catch at short midwicket and Tom Kural was out for a duck to continue his miserable run of form. The 6 wicket victory was the perfect tonic after last week's embarrassing defeat to Knutsford.

Audlem gained 25 points and move up to fourth place, whilst Norbury's gained 5. Today the 1st XI travel to seventh-place Frodsham.
