What a lovely story with a very poignant message for the people of Audlem
"things that may have been lost today will possibly appear again eventually"

It has to be bad when Audlem makes it on the Radio 2 travel news – Green lane closed due to flooding

Ali T on Audlem from far away

I'm in the other side of the world these days and so great to get echoes of audlem from the site. The turnpike path is looking great and I can see in my minds eye exactly where that is. Also enjoyed the piece about a degree being awarded many years later, what a lovely moment.

Christina Lawson on Cheshire East Planning Enforcement Action Locally

31st October 2022 @ 11:45am

There were many Audlem and district residents who sent objections earlier this year to Planning Application 22/0111N involving the creation of large track across open country entering the A529 at Corbrook. They will be pleased to know that the landowner withdrew his application on 26 October, following Enforcement Action by Cheshire East and the loss of an Appeal by the landowner. We can thank our Planning Enforcement Team for their actions. The track so far created should be returned to its former state.

John Peel on Broadband

As of sunday evening it seems BT are having issues with speed ( this will affect all cable to the property b/band companies as they use Openreach) . Mine dropped down to 20Mb from 150 but if you reboot the router ( or power it down and power back up ) speed increased to 95Mb. Lets hope they fix it overnight.

Russell Banks on Ralph visits China – in 1972

30th October 2022 @ 5:00pm

What a thoroughly interesting read.
However as a relative 'Audlem newbie' I am perplexed as to why such succesful business people, are not snapped up by the Parish Council.
Their insight and experience would surely have prevented the disfunctional PC practices of late last year/early this.

Stewart Rose on AOL get control of your Facebook page

30th October 2022 @ 4:15pm

I must say that my concerns with the comments on Facebook also apply to the people who work so hard with this fantastic page. The abuse the members of the AOL team have also been receiving is disgusting

Stewart Rose on AOL get control of your Facebook page

30th October 2022 @ 4:09pm

Also if you get on your Facebook page you can easily remove comments if the issue is that AOL can not gain access and run the Facebook page properly then maybe they should not have a Facebook page. It's a definite worry that not only are people who have done nothing being targeted in this witch hunt but these comments on Facebook could very easily effect any future court case regarding what's happened recently

Stewart Rose on AOL get control of your Facebook page

30th October 2022 @ 1:42pm

If you are not able to properly control the comments on a post then it should be removed it's a very simple process. Something must be done to stop these vile comments towards people until we know the full facts about things

Jon Richardson on AOL get control of your Facebook page

30th October 2022 @ 11:16am

The Facebook postings mentioned by Stewart Rose are certainly of a bullying nature, but it is wrong to suggest that AOL web team are "allowing" these postings while disallowing them on AOL. The fact is, they have no control over postings on Facebook any more than anyone else does. The only remedy open to AOL (as with any other user of Facebook) is to request the postings to be taken down. The decision to comply with such request rests with Facebook moderators alone.

Why do some people need to be so sour? If a news article is of no interest to you then just exercise the option to not read it.
Ralph is a prominent local and does tons for the village. I enjoy his occasional articles. Perhaps if the complainant has something better to offer then they should submit it.

Stewart rose on AOL get control of your Facebook page

30th October 2022 @ 8:18am

You put statements about allowing comments but you just allow abusive comments on your Facebook page. The comments made by some people are basically bullying and you are allowing it to happen you should be ashamed

Could someone please explain what a trip to China in 1972 has got to do with the life of this village!!

Mike Banks on Ralph visits China – in 1972

30th October 2022 @ 6:09am

Although I'm no longer an Audlem resident, I do like to keep up with AOL and I found Ralph's article to be of particular interest whilst I sit in my hotel quarantine room in the very pleasant Chinese coastal city of Xiamen.

I suppose travel to China isn't much easier right now, all visas issues prior to March 2020 are now voided and new visas are particularly difficult to acquire. Finding flights is just as challenging, I had to wait six weeks for a flight with open seats. On the plus side, the food in Xiamen is quite good, being based on the Min cuisine which is one of the eight traditional cuisines of China and possibly my favourite. Next stop is Tianjin, another coastal city but on the Bohai sea and I expect quite a bit colder.

Iain Findlay on Activity on Turnpike Lane Field

29th October 2022 @ 5:48pm

What's going in in the field? The gate is open and there are a couple of cars parked on the top field and a couple on the bottom field, with evidence of much traffic going across between the two over the small bridge.
