It seems we are now a moated village with access in and out restricted by flood water despite the recent works carried out.
Should we consider declaring UDI from Cheshire East and becoming the Independent state of Audlem?
That would put paid to their parking charges and yellow lines!
Corbrook is well flooded. I just managed to get through in my Land Rover (2 hours ago) at which time a van was trying to revoer a Jaguar sports car that had 'drowned'! Probably much worse now.
I'd like to addmy greetingsand bestwishes together with a Thank you andGoodLuck to our newParish Clerk, Carol Bell. Ihopeshe isable to positively contribute to helping our Council navigate the stormy headwinds they are facing on our behalf!!Welcome aoard the good ship Audlem, Carol
so after closing Green lane at the Fjord for 5 days with 6 workmen working on "fixing" the flood and then having traffic lights posted for a further 3 days due to shoddy work and the road surface crumbling, we now have a serious flood here this morning and I know of at least 3 vehicle (4X4, van and truck) that have been stranded in it. The water is waist deep!
Police are too busy to close the road. This is the worst i have seen it in my 9 years living here.
What a waste of tax payers money to make the problem worse that it was before!
Windmill lane Buerton is badly flooded as is the Nantwich road outside Bridgmere garden centre.
Thank you for the early reports of the 'usual flooding' which I was able to pass on to Cheshire East. Your early reports meant Audlem was at the front of the queue!
I am told by CE highways that a team has attended Old Railway Bridge but is unable to clear the volume of flood water so the A529 will again be closed.
I hope there is better news at Corbrook but await a update from highways.
Thank you Terry Aston and Jan Campbell for your recommendations of a roofer.
I can't believe we have waited so long for Billy Gibbons to wade in on this.....?
Actually Kevin, I've just given it a bit more thought for you :
Keep it free to pee in Audlem
And for shops, events and clubs
We need to keep our amenities
Medical practice, gym and pubs !
O Cheshire East you must listen
Our community has one plea
To keep our village vibrant
Our parking must be FREE !
I don't have a song – but I do have a suggestion for a chant for the protest : "No charges ! No fines !- No double yellow lines !"
can anyone recommend a good kitchen fitter or carpenter please
We are still looking for donations for tombola raffle and auction for our charity day on Saturday 28th October for Riding school for disabled in nantwich and District all donations great fully received to make as much money as we can for the charity Thank-you €
Is there any talented songwriter or musician out there in Audlem who could write a car parking protest song?
This could be played on local radio etc to emphasise our cause against the introduction of parking charges.
Audlem Got Talent I'm sure.
Can I make a suggestion to whoever organises the mobile Covid vaccination service outside Audlem public hall as seen yesterday (17thOct). When advertising this service maybe explain it will be closed for lunch and due to poor planning it will probably run out of vaccine 3 hrs before it closes.
Many of people using this service were local elderly some having mobility issues. Turned away as it closed for lunch only to return later to be told no more vaccine. Surely they would have an idea approx how many vaccines would be needed for a 10.30-4 clinic. Absolute shambles
At least the walking is good for you.
I'd also recommend Anthony Jess

Roofer recommendation: Anthony Jess
I have made 5 visits over 2 sessions to this so called walk-in service, 3 times have joined the line to be told of 1 +hr waits, 1 run out of vaccine and after 15 mins come back after lunch. No mention of lunch on the site!!!! Result NO JAB, 4 miles of walking and very angry!!
Would someone please recommend a roofer for investigation and rectification of a roof problem.
Thanks.
Many thanks to Joe, Mike and Terry for the recommendations – much appreciated :-)
I think you have misinterpreted the legislation, Stephen. What it is saying is you have 10 mins after your PAID period of parking has ended, there is no free ' dash to the shops'
3) No penalty charge is payable for the contravention where the vehicle has been left beyond the permitted parking period for a period not exceeding 10 minutes.

Whilst recognising the larger impact of car parking charges, I would point out that Cheshire East, no matter what the signs may say, are not legally able to issue a Penalty for failing to pay in a public car park until after a 10 minute grace period AND then a 5 minute observation period. Popping quickly into a shop etc in under 15 minutes should therefore not be chargeable or result in a penalty.
Shropshire actually promote this as a benefit for local businesses, and you will find a sticker on all of their parking meters – whereas Cheshire East do not. This assumes your vehicle is otherwise correctly parked.
The Civil Enforcement of Parking Contraventions (England) General (Amendment) Regulations 2015
Cheshire East have been trying this on for years across all of their car parks, but it is enshrined in legislation, regardless of what they think.
It would appear that many local councils of all political persuasions are going bankrupt at the moment. Whilst some of this maybe because of financial ineptness, it is obvious that there are real constraints on local government spending.
Ideally I would like Audlem to have totally free parking, and I know that some local authorities do have this for the first hour, only charging beyond that time. This would help solve the problem of parking for drop-offs, medical appointments etc.
I wondered if this could be a possible solution to the problem, especially with aid of modern technology.
The Chippy will be open Monday lunch but closed in the evening on 16th oct
