Geoff oakes on Mole catcher

Can anyone recommend a local mole catcher as yet again my moles are back! There is no mention of anyone who provides this service in the directories section of AOL. Thanks!

Geoff Oakes on Green Waste Charge Update

10th August 2023 @ 3:23pm

Thank you Councillor Bailey for your efforts which challenges the ridiculous decision to impose charges for the emptying of the green bins. So I assume that if we choose not to pay the charge we put waste food and roots and branches in the black bin. Hopefully sense will prevail but there does not seem to be much of that in Cheshire East Council.

Can anyone tell me if The Priest House is opening again as I have been twice and it has a notice saying closed but does not state a day to reopen?

I am surprised that you are not following Paul Larcombes progress in the States : through to semi final later today I believe. A great and pleasant village character.

Sandra Rothwell on Green Bin

10th August 2023 @ 7:20am

It beggars belief that East Cheshire Council is condoning the cost of sending out a green waste lorry to pick up less green waste due to many people, quite rightly, refusing to pay the charge. Even more bewildering that they could possibly send a lorry all the way down a road to pick up just one bin belonging to someone who has decided to pay this levy.. Yet more waste of public money, and even more reduced service. Utter madness!

Kay Hodson on Recycling pill blister packs

9th August 2023 @ 6:49am

The less standardised message from Terracycle also states that the cost of recycling the blister packs is greater than the worth of the products it generates. Ultimately I suppose it is the big pharmaceutical companies who are to blame. (And the world is controlled by money.)

Celia Bloor on Recycling pill blister packs

7th August 2023 @ 9:59pm

Yes Kay a kind friend took a large carrier bag of mine there and they took them but that may have triggered the response that in future it would only be small amounts. Checked Shrewsbury and as they do not have a pharmacy dept there they don't. Wonder why Boots does not set an example?

Suggest Karen tries Hugh Protheroe. Very satisfied with Hughs work – also a very agreeable young man.

Kay Hodson on Recycling pill blister packs

7th August 2023 @ 7:20am

Hi Celia,
I have been to Superdrug in Chester over the weekend with our household's blister packs for recycling only to be met by a 'manager' who informed me that it is not for bulk drop off's aka more than 7(!) blister packs at a time. A lengthy challenge I put to him, but understandably he said to I should put my suggestions forward at a higher level.
Having done this with Terracycle, the initial response does not look good: "TerraCycle's role in Superdrug's blister pack recycling programme now is simply to recycle the blister packs collected in Superdrug pharmacies. TerraCycle does not manage the logistics for the recycling solution or have any say or impact on the size or day-to-day running of Superdrug's recycling solution for medicine blister packs."
I will be in touch with Superdrug at some point, but it looks like a lost cause at this time unfortunately.

Jody Morgan on Woore Rd Closure

3rd August 2023 @ 7:57am

Many people don't seem to realise that Woore Rd is actually closed, in the evening there are barriers and metal fencing in place so no through access. We've had two incidents in the last two days that defy belief, a motorcyclist, who despite being told the road was closed, chose to ride along the pavement and another driver last night who dragged the barriers out of the way because they couldn't be bothered to go around, Prize Plums! As well as the ditch where the pipes are being laid there is also heavy machinery parked up and mud on the road which is slippery. Please avoid coming along Woore Road so that accidents can be avoided.

Paul Moody on Transport Festival

2nd August 2023 @ 12:42pm

I would like to say a big thank you to all who organised and participated in the festival on Sunday it was a great day to be part of.
Also a thank you to all the Audlem residents who came out in uncertain weather to wave us all by on the run through from Hankelow down to Audlem.
The hours of polishing and cleaning wheels ( Silver MK2 Golf ) was all worth it and cant wait till 2024.
Great work and brilliant atmosphere.

Roland Turner on Transport Festival

31st July 2023 @ 2:26pm

I would like to add to the praise and messages of thanks expressed to ASET for organising the Transport Festival again this year. I would also like to say how good it was from a driver's perspective on the parade. Having lived in Audlem for several years I had always wanted to participate. That sounds easy but with the car being off the road for a couple of years, Covid interfering, a total rebuild of the car and another breakdown in the week before last year's event it was great to participate this year. From usually standing opposite the Buttermarket to watch I was amazed, driving along, how many residents of Audlem had come out of their houses with chairs and family to wave us all by. The route seemed to be lined from Corbrook right through to the playing field. This really added to the event from a participants perspective. Thanks for your waving and support all of you. A great event, one of many things Audlem is good at!

Andy Davidson on A530 Flowers Lane

As there were delays on the M6 southbound we exited at junction 18 and drove down the Middlewich Road without any problems whatsoever.

Catriona White on Narrow part of Longhill Lane/Woore Rd Closure

31st July 2023 @ 12:05pm

Unfortunately there is now a smashed car on the narrow part of Longhill Lane, albeit in the farm drive, away from traffic. (Woore Rd to Windmill Lane section) I only hope whomever was involved is well and unhurt.
Longhill and Windmill Lanes are not the A525 as residents we are asking all drivers to be aware of the issues, we are not being NIMBY's...we just want all people using the lane to be SAFE.
P.S. If you are driving down these lanes at night – please be aware we have Hedgehogs! Just to bring in another chat topic :)

bob fousert on A530 Flowers Lane
