The secret is to keep traffic speeds down I.e let Billy cruise back and too through the village .
Has Ant been forced to move yet ? We had a new postman this am who announced my wife's x2 excited westies Ted and Ernie that he had no biscuits to offer them which got him a nip on the ankle from Ted and he departed leaving the gate open :(
Dear Lynne,
You could try Ripples at Bridgemere Garden Centre to capture and look after your fish.
Mike
Hi, I'm not sure if anybody would please be able to help or advise but we are soon going to encounter a problem with some fish. My son. who lives in Nantwich, has inherited some fish including two large koi carp. Although a suitable pond is being constructed there is a strong chance that the fish will need to be moved before it is finished as their current pond has developed a very serious leak. I am looking for someone who could transport and, ideally, store the fish for around a month. We are prepared to pay for this service but cannot find anyone in this region that does this. Any help, or suggestions, would be appreciated. Thank you Lynn Turner
Will the person chucking poo bags into my garden on Kettle Lane kindly desist.
Sonia. it is great that you are interested in the possibility of a youth project and your ideas are positive.
I feel I should make the point that it is money that is available. What is now needed is not only ideas and suggestions (which are fantastic) but also new people to take over and facilitate . Maybe someone new could take over and get things going.
Can anyone recommend someone to replace one of my double glazed windows- the whole window
I was interested to read the article just now about funds for skate park/youth club etc. It would be brilliant to get something up and running again for the young people in our community. I happen to be a governor at the primary school, and naturally we have close links to Brine Leas. I would like to suggest that perhaps you run a brief consultation with the young people in our village. I'm sure school would be happy to help you organise or promote this. Or alternatively, perhaps have a couple of 'open sessions' on the fields outside the public hall on a sunny day. Lots of young people come to use the fields and play ground during the course of the weekend. You would get parents too I'm sure, but really the best people to ask are the young people themselves. I'm afraid I didn't see a name on the article otherwise I would have tried to contact you directly. These are just some thoughts.
Jan Campbell,
If you just need someone to clean your flue/chimney and ensure the stove is operating safely then I can recommend Peter Buckley (01630 658947 & www.peterbuckleychimneysweep.com/our-services).
He's serviced our multifuel inc wood-burning stove in recent years and we've found him efficient, tidy, reasonable in his charges and a pleasant man to deal with.
We can recommend Lee Welch. He has done several carpentry jobs for us, windows, doors, shelving and a bespoke radiator cover. He is a very nice young man, a little shy.
His phone no is 07881 284641
As I've said before; double yellow lines means precisely nothing to a lot of our (non disabled) local drivers. However; a fine and a drivers education course might hit home a bit harder. A few points on their licence thrown in for good measure may also make them think. But....it's not going to happen, is it.
Does anyone know anyone locally, they could recommend, to replace/repair a stiff mixer valve.
Can anyone recommend someone who could service a woodburning / multi fuel stove please?
Hi/
Unfortunately this old one rears its ugly head once again.,
We do know we need vehicular access for emergency vehicles at any time.
Other than that parking such as this is selfish dangerous and it is also against the Law of the Land
Reg number deleted this time it may not be again.
there is no way of getting this image to you
David
Looking for a local carpenter ideally that can fit doors and some other small carpentry jobs.
Could anyone recommend someone trustworthy please
Thanks
looking for 27/28 July
Hi Jude,
Thanks for your interest in the running group.
We'd love to have you come along and join us. We meet every Saturday at 8:20 ish on the main village car park, for an 8:30 start.
We tend to run between 5 and 6 miles with a nice mixture of paces, and the people at the front will double back to make sure no one is left behind.
There is a group going out on Saturday the 10th who would happily welcome you along.
Joy Hargreaves has given a detailed description of the pressures currently facing the agricultural industry. As someone who has never worked in that industry I found that interesting and useful.
However, Joy has failed to address the detailed circumstances of the incidents which prompted Beryl Cole and Susan Batchellor to submit their posts to Chatbox. In Beryl's case she was walking along a pavement when she encountered a tractor and muck spreader that was chucking out mud and other material. Fortunately none of it hit her. In Susan and her husband's case Susan states'....we were driving out of the village recently on Cheshire Street towards Nantwich and were forced to come to an emergency stop by a huge green tractor with an equally huge trailer attached that came onto our side of the road at full pelt to overtake parked cars on his side by the girl guide building. There were people walking on the pavement on our passenger side so we were left with nowhere to go and literally inches to spare as he sped off! My husband tried to get the number plate but there wasn't one attached to the huge trailer and the driver was gone in seconds, this left us shocked and upset.'
It is noteworthy that in both cases there was no readable number plate. In one case there was no number plate at all on the back of the trailer and in the other it was unreadable because covered with mud. Both are of course offences.
It is necessary to repeat these details because the responses from Paul Cawood and Joy Hargreaves have been quite defensive, as though the posters were generalising about all local tractor drivers when quite clearly they were not, as a reading of what they actually wrote makes clear.
Joy Hargreaves has stated that 'WE ALL NEED OUR FOOD'. This statement, especially in capitals, is hardly necessary. Let me offer another truism: we all need to be able to to walk along a pavement or drive on the public highway without having our safety threatened by the no doubt small minority of irresponsible drivers of very large modern tractors and trailers.
Finally, Joy Hargeaves has suggested that if we meet tractors on the lanes we should offer to pull in. Unfortunately this is not always possible, especially after any prolonged periods of wet weather when in some cases the verges have been churned up by very large tractors and lorries.
I think there are 2 major issues with this application. Firstly the noise. Its known noise in the open travels miles at night and the proposal is a marquee for 200-300 people. The plans discuss Noise in 1 short paragraph so basically no assessment at all. The venue is 200m to Corbrook Court as the adjoining field so not good for the care residents. Its 400m to the Anwyl estate, and 500m to the edge of audlem along heathfield road which is built up (fields between venue and audlem hence zero sound protection). The plans are Weddings every day of the week until 1am (12pm music). I have lived about 2.5miles away from a wedding venue and you could hear the music every weekend. I genuinely believe this is something which will affect the whole village and a great concern which will impact people's enjoyment of either sitting in gardens in summer or having to close windows at night in order to sleep.
2nd traffic on the road. The only access is from opposite the school entrance onto monks lane which is where a lot of children walk to school so for weddings during the week in the afternoon there will be a clash and a danger to children. If you approach audlem from Woore, Google maps suggests going up along heathfield road (from the south) past the school, which everyone knows in audlem is not a suitable road for constant traffic as well as very narrow going past the school. For those that use Monks lane, its a nice narrow quiet lane for walking, dog walking, cycling (I do with my kids). There is no chance I would use that road any longer as it would be too dangerous if this went ahead.
I just think any minor benefit which Audlem gets is outweighed by these issues which would impact the village for ever more.
Chris, the most effective way for any concerned resident to register concerns/objections is to go to the Cheshire East planning site. It's very easy: or google Cheshire East Planning – follow 'View and comment on current planning applications' – and search 21/3505N. There you can see the plans that have been submitted by scrolling down and clicking on 'Plans and Documents' and then click on each document in turn ( you can also see 'Applicant Details' plus 'Consultees and Neighbours'). To comment you just click on the link in the yellow box on the right hand side 'Comment on this Application'.
On noise/environmental health: concerned residents can e mail their views direct: environmentalprotection2@cheshireeast.gov.uk.
Any resident with concerns really should do both.
Good point Sion. Another point I'd like to make to add some balance is that not all tractor drivers are racing through the village against the clock. Many are patient and courteous.
On a walk this week on Monks Lane, a farmer was doing a massively valuable job in these parts and trimming the hedgerows. (Imagine having to wait for Cheshire East to do such a job?). While we were happy to wait for him to complete his task, he took it on himself to stop what he was doing, reverse the tractor some distance into a space and wait for us to walk past. Polite waves all round followed.
In my experience having lived here some 20 years, most of the danger in this village comes from speeding Chelsea tractors rather than actual ones.
Just like to congratulate the Parker family and their builders on the excellent refurbishment of the post office and grounds. The quality of the work and design in this important location adjoining St James church, is of great benefit to the central conservation zone of the village and will be a lasting tribute to them for generations to come.
Joy Hargreaves on Speeding Tractors and, 'We all need our food'.
Whilst I agree with you Joy, you must remember that a majority of the electorate thought that a larder full of sovereignty was more important than one full of food, especially the farming community. But the good news is that there will be another election, unless our outstanding PM and his team change the rules and that can never be ruled out...
Not sure that Monk's Lane is a suitable place for a wedding venue. Not only will there be a traffic problem down a one track lane but there will be an effect on the local wildlife and the dairy farm that's on site. I think the fashion at the moment is to have fireworks at weddings. If this happens then the owls, bats and other animals will soon disappear. The dairy cows at the farm which never go outdoors will also be affected. Just hope someone starts a petition to make sure this development never happens
I want to thank Councillor Bailey for her proactivity and support in dealing with a recent problem. It's great to see a local politician who makes time for people, who reacts to issues raised on AOL without prompting, who understand local issues and people and makes things happen!
