Once again totally support all the comments re the Medial practice. More so as my sister in Cambridge having broken her neck was refused a home booster and told by doctor to go to a walk in at Cambridge or Huntingdon as they were not interested in boosters at same time refusing any face to face appointments. We are truly blessed here in Audlem.

I would like to echo the comments of the other contributors. I feel extremely fortunate to have access to the services of the wonderful Audlem Medical Practice. The telephones are always answered and an appointment made if necessary. They have literally been lifesaving for myself. It appears that there are now very few practices nationally that offer such a superb service and I hope that all the Doctors, nurses and staff are aware that they are much appreciated. A huge thank you to everyone and also to the pharmacy staff of Boots in Audlem who are always most helpful too.

The only one I know of David was just outside Audlem. It was in Windmill Lane in Buerton. But, I'm sure Audlem had a service like that and if I was a betting man I'd say it would be at Moseley's.

I'd like to second B Wilkins sentiments. The support we've had from the practice since my wife was diagnosed with a dreadful illness, MND, in 2019 has been second to none. I know talking to others, even in Cheshire, that we are very privileged indeed with the service we get. It's known throughout the medical fraternity around Cheshire and beyond too – someone at the hospice that supports us commented to me only this week what a great practice it is. It would have been a much harder journey for us without them.
No one is perfect, but I would suggest that anyone with an issue contact the practice manager or her deputies before shouting on on social media or on here – they've always sorted out anything for us promptly and efficiently.
We wish them all the best for what seems to be about to become a very testing time for them.

Sorry to disappoint you Anne, but I fear you're likely to be out of luck. Even though Tangent is a good make, I suspect it falls into the "disposable" category after seven years, like many electricals these days. The days of the corner shop TV repair man who could replace your valves & charge your accumulator batteries are long gone. Was there ever one in Audlem, Billy?
DAB radio/CD players are not so easy to find these days: music streaming from the internet has made the CD part somewhat redundant.
Choices are the cheapish ones with heavy bass (good for summer evening parties on the Turnpike Field!), or more expensive (£150-200) with better quality sound & DAB reception. John Lewis & Amazon stock the latter type.

It was anticipated that this would be a "campaign" to reinstate gritting on Coole lane. AOL was not intended (as its Ts&Cs will confirm) to be a battle ground for complaints that should be directed to the parties concerned. Entries falling into this category will not be published. I am sorry if that offends anyone, but the Editors' decision is final.

I would like to express thanks to the practice , who even through lockdown still managed to see urgent cases, both the doctors and reception , doing a sterling job , will always be the few that not satisfied , but many other practices shut doors, and only did phone call surgeries, Merry Christmas to all. James, where is Audlem's roads policy document because I can't find one on the APC site? Listening to the public is commendable but some works must be initiated by CE for HSE reasons. Use the County Councillor and MP if necessary to bring pressure to bear on CE to fulfill their obligations

I personally agree completely Chris I still feel if it's something that's been raised by a member of the public we as a parish council should look into it as a viable option

Does anyone know where I can get Tangent Cinque DAB Radio/ CD Player repaired. It has power coming through but that is it.
It would be lovely if I could be able to play Christmas CDs and have radio working.

It is not for the PC to take on the local road network and start gritting the roads, that's Cheshire East's role and pressure should be put on them to fulfil that requirement.

The government advice is to work from home if you can. Seeing as there is, so far, no provision for remote meetings then it is obvious that the meeting should have gone ahead to get through some of the pile of outstanding matters. Maybe NALC doesn't have authority here?

Risk and liability has been talked about on here: If the Parish Council take on responsibilty for gritting it is the PC's liability not individual councillors: I would add that when placing any contract for outside contractors such as those used for gritting, the normal vetting including approriate insurance cover is of course essential. Dont let reluctance to consider gritting by the PC put you off! Here's hoping that Cheshire East will fulfil their duty..but if its now withdrawn you have to decide whether to accept the consequent danger or do something about it and the Parish Council is a good start.

Can we all remember that the tree in Trafalgar Square is a gift from the Norwegian people to thank the British for their support during world war 2. I think it's a shame that people are concerned more on the way it looks rather then the reason behind the tree

Hi Monique, they have a small, black terrier-type dog up at Seaton Farm in Coxbank. Not sure if it's male or female but it doesn't wear a collar. Maybe from there?

With regards to the suggested idea of the Parish Council taking on road gritting, provided it was the Parish Councillors that took on the liability side I can see no objection as they would be the ones initiating it albeit supposedly on the residents behalf. I could ill afford to a part of liability claims as well as additional costs that may yet be in the pipeline for Turnpike Field.

I completely agree with the previous comments, but surely the drivers should take some responsibility. Nowadays it seems whatever the conditions drivers have only one speed. About 100 years ago, when I passed my test, we were taught to drive to the weather conditions.

Hi Jim it's definitely something we can look into obviously it all comes down to cost. Personally I feel it would be better to get Cheshire east council to grit properly and what is needed rather then take the expense on ourselves. My worry would be if we take the expense on we also take liability on as I say though more then happy to look into it

We moved int the village for Christmas 1984 and there certainly was a large tree in the square. Will look through my 35mm slides for a photo.

I am not an Audlem resident but often travel through the area from Loggerheads/Woore. When Staffs CC Highways reduced gritting services 5 years ago to treat only the A 51 and A53, Loggerheads Parish Council decided that it was a good use of Council Tax payers' money to provide its own gritting on the steep roads in part of the Parish and it set aside money specifically for this purpose.

Parish Council Grit bins have also been installed, and its hired gritter lorry responds at 4 hours notice when required. The PC has been congratulated on this public service and Ratepayers think its a good deal. Something for Audlem PC to consider, perhaps?

You don't like heights Billy, well it's a good job the very first tree was only 8 foot high then, (not totally sure about that fact) but this story gives 'putting a star on top of your tree' a whole new meaning, merry xmas.
