Hi Bob Thanks for your advice. We agree completely. For any concerned followers, if a tank of this type was used for temporary storage we would of course cut the top off, use the ponds existing pump/ filter provide adequate shade and a net. This is just a short term fix whilst a new pond is under construction. Lynn
Hello – Wondering if anyone can recommend a tree surgeon to trim some large Conifers on the garden boundary – Thanks
A huge thank you to ASET for providing a very memorable Festival Of Transport on Sunday which our members thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks must also go to the Marshals and organisers at Hankelow and Audlem who made everything run so smoothly. We also thank the Residents of Audlem and Hankelow who made the Show so special by showing their support along the route and at the showground. We, as the Potterties & South Cheshire MG Owners Club attend many car shows throughout the year but it is Audlem Festival of Transport that always remains special. Long may it continue. Once again a BIG BIG THANK YOU.
My name is Benjie and I am a dog
I like nothing better than to go for a jog.
The trouble is my nerves are bad
And I hate fireworks, which is very sad.
On Friday and Sunday they were far away
But to my ears they were clear as day,
My tail goes down and I run to hide
Until my Mum comes to my side.
Humans love them , she does tell
But for me It is a living hell.
Children have stars in their eyes
But inside me a little dies.
It seems that I should try to be strong
If My Mum is right, I must be wrong.
To whoever is asking for an extra large plastic tank I would suggest that you think twice before putting fish into a container similar to the one on your listing. Unless the top is cut off and a source of oxygenation such as a water pump is supplied, your fish won't last very long.
For several nights now I've seen a rental van parked outside the buttermarket whilst its driver enjoys his tea at the Lord Combermere, I was just wondering if this was a privilege of being a parish councillor or has this councillor just taken upon himself to adopt this as his car parking space. Just wondering if its worth perhaps painting a bay with his name on to save confusion

LOST, MISSING, CAN NOT FIND, Turnpike? For such a great and valuable village resource , why isn't it on the AOL map and village information boards on the carpark and canal for anybody new or old to the village,
Thank you Celia for alerting us to the passing of Geoff Farr. What an amazing life he has led, if a light plane flies over the area, I never think otherwise than, 'its Geoff', albeit I know in recent times it is a member of his family.
May I via chatbox send my sincere condolences to all of his family.
All reunited now
I would highly recommend Derek Mawby Paving Ltd 07831 583227. You are welcome to come to see the job that he has done for me in Audlem.
Apologies to anybody our teenage son managed to upset this morning by having a bonfire and creating lots of smoke. He forgot to engage brain whilst home alone and clearing garden greenery!
We have someone's small brown wire haired terrier- was loose on Audlem Road in traffic.
He's safe here but no doubt wants to be reunited !
Thanks Steve for those figures re noise to be expected in Hankelow and in Monks Lane from the proposed use of The PARKES as a large wedding venue for up to 300 guests. They could help myself and any others who also wish to add our objections to send to Cheshire East Planning, the deadline for which is under 2 weeks away.
The figures you give for Monks Lane are at the Heathfield Road end, so I imagine will be much worse for those nearer The PARKES itself.
Just seen a tiny notice in the Chronicle that suggests Geoff has died. Did I blink and miss an announcement? Lovely man full of anecdotes and author of at least one book. Please forgive me if I have had a senior moment and should have known!
I'm looking to widen my existing tarmac drive and wonder if anyone can recommend anyone who would do a good job. Thanks
Crikey Colin, that's a fair old list. But how come you haven't warned also about Billy's rocket launches – they must make the foundations shake when he ignites the engine?
I've got a neighbour with a noisy black Ford Capri, but I'm not complaining about it as he's promised me a go in it, although I guess we'd better avoid Saturday night or Sunday afternoon just in case someone complains.
Jennie; There is an alternative but I'm far too polite to tell you (as people who have lived here as long as I have; 64 and 3.9 years and counting and who know me) will tell you.
I suppose it's a bit like the people (name not included because I don't know their names) who moved here to a property near the Church then...guess what....complained about the Church Bells ringing! Not the same thing I know but......very similar!
(Some) People have jobs and the only time some of them get to do thier own jobs is when other people have done theirs. Live and let live or..........................................................................
Hi Christina.
If you mean the houses on Monks Lane where it meets Heathfield Road, then they are about 530m from The Parkes, so the theoretical sound level could be about 66dB Event LAeq and 97dB peak. The Green at Hankelow is 930m away so the levels could be about 61dB and 94dB. Obviously as I said in the article, weather and other factors could change these values.
Continuous conversation is 60dB and laughter 65dB, so Anwyl and Lyme Wood Grange could experience loud conversation plus bass peaks. Corbrook would be most unpleasant.
I've read that some applications have been approved, but they have been limited to a maximum of 30 events per annum and that the disco has to end at 10pm weekdays and 11pm weekends.
I have a slimline water butt with base, fittings etc that I would like to get installed. Ideally off downpipe at rear of property. The pipe itself would need to be cut and a section temporarily removed to enable diverter to be installed.
Would anyone be able to assist please?
Thank you
Kind Regards
Fiona Riley, Buerton
Thank you Steve Elliott for your item on Noise Regulations. I would be also interested in your projected figures for the houses in Monks Lane Audlem and for the Green in Hankelow. I do remember that in the days of Corbrook Home Garden Parties the musical entertainments were very audible in Hankelow.
Am I right in understanding your table to show that whilst well below legal Health guidance levels, the levels at Corbrook, Anwyl and Mccarthy and Stone would be at least of continuous conversation level?
Does it not matter that the hours applied for by a wedding venue are much later than the normal bedtimes of either older people or families ?
My daughter's wedding venue was in a residential area, and music had to finish at 11pm. At the least similar restrictions should be placed on The Parkes.
Well, Rosemary what a very pleasant reply you gave to Jennie, it's a good job I didn't reply or I would have said something like what an incredibly selfish attitude to arrive in our beautiful village with. You want people to 'give a little thought to others', when you are only thinking about yourself. I dread to think what reaction the Proms on the park will bring from our newbies as it goes on till after 10 o clock. Let's just hope the chips aren't too hot in the chippy or the beer too cold in the pubs for you, should you venture into the metropolis. Maybe we should also stop the Church bells ringing and muffle the Fire engine to give you the sanctuary you seek? And just one last thought, has anyone made our new arrivals aware of Ralph the amazing firework man, that may be the final straw? We can but hope.
Hello Jeannie. I also live by the church & yes, sometimes it gets a bit noisy & cars drive up on the footpaths when people park irresponsibly but all in all you couldnt have come to a better place to live. Accept, as has been said, that its the first opportunity many have had to get some of these jobs done & also bear in mind its Harvest time so farmers are working round the clock while its dry. There were people that wanted to stop the church clock chiming or the bells being rung on practice night. They ring me to sleep & wake me in the morning so we all have to be a little tollerant of things happening in a small community like ours. Accept your good fortune to have found a really vibrant village to come to live in embrace it & just enjoy it while the suns shining. The next six months could be wet !!
Welcome to the village Jennie
Unfortunately I think you'll struggle for support in ceasing of any noise on a Sunday afternoon.
I will warn you now Audlem is a historically agricultural village which will at times run 24/7
Also Audlem prides itself on its looks and ADAS spend a lot of time maintaining the village and communal which will sometimes lead to maintenance being carried out (rarely) on evening/ weekend hours.
People also take a lot of pride in their homes and gardens and usually a Sunday afternoon is a prime time.
I see it unwise to be getting upset over large machinery in the first break of good weather in a month and also 2pm on a a Sunday isn't unreasonable
Living by the church is a very very busy rat run for tractors, hgvs, pedestrians akin
Wish you all the best in the village
Rosemary
