The Audlem Zen Meditation Group meets on Mondays at 8pm. Zen is a form of Buddhism that emphasises meditation as a part of daily life. In recent years, 'mindfulness' training has become popular, and this is mostly based on Buddhist practices, particularly zen. To practise zen meditation, you don't have to believe anything special, you just have to sit!

Hankelow Methodist Church

My new adult art classes begin again on September 30th at Hankelow Methodist Church 9.30 – 12.30 and 1.30 to 4.30 for 10 weeks.
There are two classes, one for beginners and one for more experienced artists. The focus for Beginners is on developing drawing skills and familiarising yourself with a range of materials. The intermediate course allows you the opportunity to develop your own work under the guidance of the tutor. Teaching points are recorded in real time during the session and then shared with all of the students, allowing you to review the lessons in your own time. All materials are provided for the Beginner's course. Places are limited, so please sign up via the link, or contact me directly for more information.

Mindspa: mindfulness & relaxation

Feral Therapy

Audlem Public Hall (small hall) Wednesdays beginning 7 May 24 at 6.15 pm for 1 hour

Mindspa incorporates mindfulness, breathwork, visualisation, and relaxation techniques to guide you away from the stresses of the day and transport you to a place of mental and physical calmness.

Integrating elements of meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, breathwork, visualisation, somatic movement, cultivating awareness, mind-body connection & non-attachment, stress relief and coping mechanisms, derived from ancient and modern philosophies from India, China, Japan, and the west.

There is no religious, spiritual, or belief-led basis for the classes, they are secular, but if you hold a belief that is important to you, you can most certainly incorporate this into your own personal practice.

You will be gently guided through each approach, often asked to do nothing at all except breathe and be here in the present moment. Any movements will be minimal, gentle, slow, and approached while sitting or lying in a comfortable position.

There is no 'right or wrong' here, only your own personal journey. Classes are built upon the needs of the attendees. This is your space.

The activity starts with a 10min warm-up and finishes with another 10min stretch. Participation is fully voluntary. We operate a 'muster' system to cater for all forms of fitness, such that faster runners can run ahead, and at the same time, we leave no one behind !
