At the regular monthly Parish Council meeting on Monday evening, the Parish Council voted unanimously to accept the latest version of the Report about the proposed devolution by Cheshire East Council to Audlem Parish Council of the Car Park, Playing Field, Tennis Courts and Play Area.
This report will now be submitted to Cheshire East Council with a view to asking them to proceed with the transfer of ownership to the Parish Council.
Taking over these assets has been much discussed by the parish council over the past year or more.
In late October 2014, an Extraordinary meeting of the parish council was attended by approximately sixty residents. The meeting ended with an overwhelming vote in favour of taking over all four assets from Cheshire East.
Three years ago, Audlem was the first parish in the borough to take over a facility from the borough council when the village took on responsibility for the public toilets on the car park in Cheshire Street.
The parish council re-opened the toilets, which had been closed a few months earlier, had them refurbished and has operated them very successfully since.
