All who have taken an interest in the proposed developments at Little Heath and off Heathfield Road, and their appeals against rejection by Cheshire East, will know that much rests on whether Cheshire East has an acceptable level of housing planned over the next five years.

Indeed, those who sat through all seven days of the Appeal hearing over the Gladman Little Heath proposal way back in May – and still no news of the result – will recall that for days on end, Audlem hardly had a mention. All the legal argument was about the 5 Year Housing Supply.

The attachment is the file compiled by Cheshire East and being discussed at various council meetings currently, including yesterday's Housing & Jobs meeting.

It's lengthy, and doubtless being disputed by developers determined to concrete over the borough, but may be of considerable interest and is a vital document that will play a big part in whether housing developments go ahead or not. It is an update on the previous report that covered the period as at March 31st 2014.

A key statement in the report says: "To bring the housing land supply fully up to date the Position Statement illustrates that as of 31st August 2014, Cheshire East is able to demonstrate a continued increase in supply.

"This analysis shows that Cheshire East now has a total deliverable housing land supply of 11,051 dwellings, with a 5% buffer this equates to 6.36 years supply of deliverable housing land and with a 20% buffer this equates to a 5.57 years supply of deliverable housing land.

"This statement concludes that Cheshire East can demonstrate a continued five year deliverable supply of housing land. Notwithstanding the additional analysis Cheshire East Council continues to stand by its position as at the 31st March 2014."

The Appendices lists all the sites where building is underway or full permission has been granted, a staggering list. It includes sites in Audlem, Hankelow, Buerton, Hatherton and Coole Lane. The largest we could spot was for 22 properties at Audlem Country Nursing Home, School Lane, Audlem
