19th November 2024 @ 8:05am

What a treat he gives us from time to tme with his contridutions on nature and to wake up to read today's thoughtful article was exceptional. Very many thanks Adrian. Many thanks too to the editors of AOL for their daily efforts. Geraint.

Julie Pitts on Wet rooms.

18th November 2024 @ 4:49pm

After attending a talk today organised by ADCA from Surecare care providers. The lady mentioned there is a huge back log in contractors available to change bathrooms for the elderly in to wet rooms. I had my bathrooms fitted by contractors who did a fantastic job. I would be happy to pass on their details if anyone is interested?

Steve Reece on BREAKING NEWS: A BUS COMETH TO AUDLEM

16th November 2024 @ 10:03pm

It must be Christmas – a bus is coming to Audlem, even if it's only the COVID bus...perhaps they would be good enough to drop a few people off on their way back to civilisation in the absence of the cancelled bus services. Has anyone warned the COVID Bus operators that they will need to pay for parking in Audlem now?

Moira Stanistreet on Car Park Residents Permits

Your right Judy, yet another table top exercises by East Cheshire as was the car park review.

Judy Evans on Car Park Residents Permits

14th November 2024 @ 7:30am

Yet another failure by Cheshire East to do their homework, when up to 80% of the eligible addresses for residents' parking permits already have private parking, and many nearby addresses which don't have any off road parking, have been omitted !

Wiliam Higgs on CO-OP Store – Audlem Local Causes Campaigns

12th November 2024 @ 3:22pm

Over the last two years, with many thanks to the CO-OP loyalty cardholders, the CO-OP have donated a total of £2,757.09 (£1,033.25 in 2023 & £1,723.84 in 2024) to Audlem Saints Football Club (ASFC) via the Local Causes Campaign.

I have now retired from/left the ASFC committee after 20 years of involvement and would like to both thank Jo and her team at the CO-OP and local shoppers for your support.

What a great village to live in.

Please use the local causes nominations on your cards – it really helps – going forward mine will be the Music Festival.

Joy Hargreaves on Whitchurch Household Recycling Centre

11th November 2024 @ 10:31am

Regarding Terry's comments about the new rules for using the Whitchurch Recycling, it was so handy dropping off items any time we were passing through the town. Even as a Shropshire resident, it is now another task having to ring up and book a drop off slot. As farmers, we fear that more rubbish will be dumped in our fields, gateways and along the grass verges. Only this summer did we see a truck load of garden rubbish together with broken fluorescent tubes dumped in the gateway of a wheat field. It all had to be sorted through and carted off before the combine harvester could get into the field. Folks not wanting to pay for the emptying of their green may also contribute to this problem.

Can anyone put me in touch with someone I could pay to do 6 or so illustrations for a book?

Terry Aston on Whitchurch Household Recycling Centre

9th November 2024 @ 8:14pm

Anyone accustomed to using these facilities will no find that from Nov 4th you can't unless you're a Shropshire resident with proof of address and a prebooked arrival time. It was extremely handy and a lot more convenient than Crewe.

Kathryn Poultney on Carol Douglas – dog attack

9th November 2024 @ 1:04pm

This is horrendous.
I hope the police are dealing with this and the owner of the dog is dealt with according.
Sounds like the lady in question only got away from the attack because of a passing motorist.
If it was biting towards her face & neck she could have been severely disfigured or worse.

Try re-tuning your TV

Kevin Mellor on Aerial Engineer

7th November 2024 @ 2:31pm

In previous posts, Judy from Williams of Audlem, has recommended Astro Aerials (07751 041156) a man called Tim. We used him last week and I can also highly recommend him.
I thought we may have need a new aerial and signal booster, but Tim tested these items and said they were fine. He could have charged me a tidy sum but instead made me 2 new aerial leads and did a retune on the TV and all is fine. An honest trader from my dealings with him.

I found a black leather glove in Bagley Lane. Does anyone want to claim it?

Steve Elliott on Permissive Footpath at Swanbach

5th November 2024 @ 10:37am

Hi Mike

Thanks for the offer. I found various OS Maps going back to OS One-Inch, 1855-1903 – Hills that show a path/track across the field.
I've sent all of the evidence to CE's consultant. My understanding is that the application for deletion must have strong evidence for it to be approved.

Tomas Minshall on Carol Douglas – dog attack

4th November 2024 @ 5:11pm

We have children that often walk from Chapel End to Buerton to use the football pitch etc. We also walk our dog past there. Every time we pass that house, there's two dogs that are going wild, and barking aggressively. This scares us and our dog who does not make a fuss or sound. Its not very pleasant for passers by and the owner is not considering other people. We don't know the runner in question but I hope she makes a full recovery.

If Steve Elliot is still looking then I have an OS map comprised from large scale surveys carried out between 1959 and 1980.
Scale2.5 in to 1 mile showing all local footpaths.

Jenny Barber on Carol Douglas – dog attack

2nd November 2024 @ 10:17am

Hi Carol, my neighbour has just made me aware of your post. I was the runner attacked yesterday – it was totally horrendous and I was completely distressed. Thank goodness you sounded your horn as the dog had bit me multiple times on the leg and arm. It was aiming for my face and throat so I was trying to protect myself. I had to go to hospital as it had bit through my clothing and bitten deep into my arm in particular. I was so grateful to the person who let me jump in their car as it would have def continued to attack and I wouldn't have made it home as I was in shock – I wasn't near my home either. I am distressed just thinking about it but my real concern is if this had been a child it would have been much worse. I daren't think! I run along that road all the time and it can be extremely quiet – if you hadn't have been there the dog would have just continued to bite me and would not have stopped- I am certain of this. Thank you for helping me as you did. This dog left it's property and ran across to the opposite side of the road, totally unprovoked and it was completely malicious – there was no threat to the dog or it's property and I'm still stunned that a member of the public can be attacked whilst simply minding their own business. Thank you once again, Carol for your help and quick thinking.

Eric Leeson on Guttering

2nd November 2024 @ 6:23am

I found the details of William, WHS Roofing and Guttering Services on an AOL Chat Box post
Will called at an agreed time, assessed the job, sent me a price for the job the next day and we agreed on a time and date for him to do the required work
He turned up on time, extremely professional and polite, and did a first class job at the prices agreed.
What more could you ask for, I highly recommend him.
