Bruce Mantle on Larry the no longer lonesome swan
I enjoyed Adrian Leighton's article about Larry the swan and his new companion but was initially briefly concerned by the inclusion of 'swansong' in the title.
I have been feeding Larry with floating swan and duck food floating pellets since May, but only every 3 days so that he does not become dependent on me for food. Two neighbours kindly stepped in while I was away.
Since May I have seen Larry with an unringed pen and then on the subsequent visit alone on at least two occasions, but in recent weeks have always found him accompanied. I hope they stay together.
They're a beautiful sight on the canal, lifting my spirits and I'm sure those of many others, especially during the short hours of daylight at this time of year.
Anthony Pearson on Glazing
Chatbox readers have recently provided me with excellent recommendations for a roofer (Anthony Jess) and chimney sweep (Haycocks). Can anyone now recommend someone who could replace a number of broken/ missing panes of greenhouse glass. Thanks in anticipation.
J Harris on GRAHAM I have the your parcel

Celia Bloor on Tickets for village events
Disappointed that there is no alternative method of buying tickets for the latest show apart from online. There used to be a phone number or some could be left at williams'. I am trying to avoid spreading my card details widely. A plea for a variety of options for local events.
David Pickworth on Plumber
I can recommend Glen Eldershaw telephone 07870 722525.
He has recently replaced a toilet for us.
Patricia Storey on Plumber
Can anyone recommend a professional and reliable plumber who could take out my bath and replace it with a shower enclosure with fixed seat and shower fitting? I am just outside the village!
Bob Coulson on Electrician
Agree with Michael – Lundie Electrical. They installed a Solar Panel & storage system for us. Very professional, courteous – & tidy

Roland Turner on ADAS Thank you evening
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the ADAS committee for organising a ‘thank you’ evening for the volunteers that have helped with their events over the last year. It is a nice gesture and helping out is what brings the village together and makes Audlem such a special place. ADAS’s hard work has been rewarded by the recognition they have received from Britain in Bloom, a tremendous haul of awards as detailed in AOL on Wednesday morning.
Thanks again to ADAS and to the Lord Combermere for hosting it.
David Pickworth on local plumber?
I am now using Glen Eldershaw. Telephone 07870 722525.
He fixed for me leaking toilets as well as fitting a brand new toilet.
He also replaced kitchen taps for one of my neighbours which was leaking and they hadn’t been able to get a plumber to deal with it for them.
I am happy to recommend him.
Geraint Davies on Gold Awards Galore!
Sincere congratulations to all the recipients of Gold awards etc – ADAS, Audlem in Bloom Team, the Methodist church, the cemetry, St James primary school.
Aren't we residents lucky people to be living in such a thriving village where so many individuals make such a contribution to the public good?
Very many thanks to all thse who have contributed to achieve these awards.
Carrie de Silva on Remembrance Sunday
News travels far and fast! My sister-in-law in Sussex heard that there was a pony covered in poppies in the village/at the church on Remembrance Sunday. Can anyone share a picture of this?
.
Stephanie Richardson on ADAS Gold
Once again, Audlem’s showing the rest of the North West how it’s done — in full bloom and full glory! Congratulations to ADAS for keeping the gold shining and earning the Pride of Cheshire East Award. We always knew Audlem was a bit special… now it’s official (again)!
Jean Stainthorpe on Remembrance Day Reflection
Thank you so much for publishing Ann Draper's Remembrance Day Reflection – so moving and thought provoking
Lynne Smith on Safety message to dog walkers
As we are now well into our dark nights could I ask all dog walkers to wear something reflective or distinguishable. Many walkers seem to be wearing dark clothing and with these dark lanes it is near impossible for car drivers to see you. Please bear this in mind when taking your dog for a walk. Remember you can see us but we can’t see you. Thank you.
Geraint Davies on local plumber?
Can anyone recommend a local plumber?
I carefully saved Ian's tel number off AOL some time ago for such an occasion but unfortunately he has left the area.
Shona Shannon on Electrician/washing machine repair
Hi Paula
We’ve always used Chris Fennell, Market Drayton, 01630 655965 for appliances repairs before, he’s very good.
Kathleen Disley on White material on Cheshire St
In reply to John Williams query, the white staining is just outside our property.
Difficult to know what it is and no idea who is responsible, but it has left a mess
I have reported it to streetscape Cheshire east.
Who knows, they may clean it up !
SANDRA NIELD on Electrician/washing machine repair
I highly recommend Home Aids Crewe 01270 213073.
