Yesterday's query about 'zero', and our comment that George Beaman's article 'Out for the Count' (see Articles & Views on the Homepage) was leading us into previously uncharted intellectual areas on Audlem Online, has resulted into a response from George. He tells us that the properties rather than the existence of zero are what mathematicians look at. George adds that if Mike Dewhirst (see news story from yesterday) thinks there may be a better answer, he might find some interesting thoughts on the subject on the internet.

On a more down to earth subject, George also says the lights on the sign by the Church flash all the time. He doesn't know if they have now been set to do so, or if it is a fault, but either way it is confusing. He asks if perhaps another discussion of the signs would be more enlightening than the Vote Poll? The Parish Plan working group on the A525 issue is meeting shortly and will consider this. The group will, however, also be very interested in your votes this month on the issue – should the 'experimental' flashing lights in Stafford Street be removed?
