I'm going with 'impressions of youth club' this week in the curation of the pictures. We have variously, the weekly free fruit artistically arranged by Callum, Tyler (our D of E volunteer) and Shea in the picturesque teen shelter and volunteer Caitlin hiding behind the pesky sherbet straws (so called because they get everywhere once they're opened).
The plans afoot this week required either a dry field or a crowd indoors and as we had neither we indulged in a spot of 'Gin's Famous Card School'. Always armed with a trusty pack of cards, and this time, a tin of buttons, Gin led us all in a few rounds of Pontoon. As Banker she suspiciously ended up with the largest button haul. I predictably lost everything but then such is my reckless and devil may care approach to gambling with buttons. Caitlin rounded the session off by teaching everyone the delights of Irish snap. If you've ever tried patting your head whilst simultaneously rubbing your stomach then you've pretty much got an idea of what Irish snap is like.
If you like to regularly appraise yourself of the goings on at Youth Club then you might remember that a couple of weeks ago we published a heartfelt plea for some extra volunteer help. I always think it must be frustrating to not know what the outcome is to that kind of request, so in order to satisfy any curiosity I can tell you that we didn't get any responses. That doesn't mean we won't. It might just mean that a handful of people are still thinking about it. If that describes you and you'd like to find out a bit more without committing yourself then I am always available to give the full story about what it entails (07789 915940). I don't do any hard selling because reluctant help is worse than no help at all to be honest. Sorry, but there it is.
Next Wednesday at Youth Club (24th May) we will be doing a Selfie Scavenger Hunt and if we get it right there should be some wicked pictures to share. This will be the last session before the half term break. Audlem Youth Club meets every Wednesday in term time at the Public Hall 7.15pm- 9pm, Y7 upwards welcome.
