I read with great interest yesterday's Pot Hole Feature particularly as you reported my conversations with the Highways Department at Cheshire East three weeks ago.*
Nothing other than a cone arriving a day later has happened since.
I would now like to nominate the remains of the verges and the holes in Woodhouse Lane (250 yards from the post box) as the worst in all of the district followed by Paddock Lane and the state of Kettle Lane.
AudlemOnline adds: Woodhouse Lane has an interesting history. After the Battle of Blore Heath, one of the first major battles in the English Wars of the Roses in 1459, the widows of the beaten Lancastrian army's soldiers are said to have retreated northwards along this lane.
Over the years, it is said that Widows' Lane developed into Woodhouse Lane. Whether the current road surface dates back to 1485 is still a matter of debate.
*This was a compliment by Rodney to the Highways Department's initial response.
As we haven't a photo of the potholes mentioned above, we are using one from yesterday's story by Peter Oxley.
