The Wonderful World of Fund raising

I recently had a phone call from SportsTraider – a Charity who have a retail shop in the potteries centre in Hanley. They went on to say " We would like to to help your charity in any way we can!" My response was thank you very much and here is what we do ( giving them a Wheelyboat Services leaflet).

The reply soon came " would you like a couple of wheelchairs?" As the the three we have to assist at Overwater are rather old I said yes please.

However, when we went to collect them we found they were sports wheelchairs and of course we did not have any facilities to use them. In conversation with SportsTraider they said they are yours to do what you can to raise funds with them!

A little research soon revealed there are 96 wheelchair tennis clubs, 26 rugby clubs and furthermore almost every sport under the sun from curling to archery.

Joe Sheldon, of Audlem Printers offered to create a sales leaflet but more than that he offered to put them on Ebay for us. Joe Hoyles also put them on Facebook.

We asked a price of £275 each as the price new was £600 and several were on Ebay for£325 or more secondhand.
The end result Joe Sheldon sold them both – one to Stevenage to an archery person and the other to a tennis player in Bristol.

Both sportsmen are very happy and so are we with £530 for our charity. ( How we got them to Stevenage and Bristol is another story.)

We are pleased that the buyers are very satisfied, we followed Sports Traider charity objectives and raised funds for our own Wheelyboat Services Charity.
