We are delighted to publish a timely poem from Audlem's successful Festival Poetry Slam poet, Jessie, who lives in the village:

WINTER

White waves and a cold whistling wind
Heavy hovering clouds
Cold sleeting rain
This means winter

Early dark nights call for early to bed
Dark mornings – wishes for a long lie in!
Thick duvets and bed socks
This means winter

Cold feet or cosy slippers
An easy choice to make
Hats, scarves and woolly gloves
This means winter

Winter comes with all its glory
Bringing with it a promise of snow,
There's a nip in the air and frost on the ground
But we can cope – we usually do -
Because spring is just around the corner!
