Audlem Online's coverage of the Wind Farm Inquiry due to start in Woore on 6th May – see yesterday's and Monday's news reports – has attracted a number of comments. Martin Dominic writes: "Re the Wind Farm, the world is changing quickly. Britain's now declining but recent glory was built on the hard work and inventiveness of its people. The cost of that success for the majority was to live in the shadow of smoking chimneys, pithead winding gear, slag heaps and railway viaducts.

"Our influence is in decline and our ability to compete for scarce resources is on the wane. The European Union is poor in fossil fuel resources. Its share of world resources are 1.2% of oil, 3.3% natural gas and 6% coal and is dependent on imports to meet its needs.

"As resources grow scarce and developing nations with fossil fuels in place become more powerful, we are going to need every watt of electricity we generate from renewable sustainable sources. The twin obstacles to granting planning permission of NIMBYism (Not In My Back Yard ) by the aesthetically privileged elite and BANANAism (Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anything) by the extreme green movement, must be overcome if the next generation are to have a meaningful future. Windmills are a small price to pay and the horror of them is grossly overstated."
