Win an Automated External Defibrillator for Your School!

Alexandra Davis of Audlem based AED Safety Services and winner of the Hand on Heart Best SME Business Award 2013, encourages schools to nominate themselves for the chance to win an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

TV Celebrity Paddy McGuinness, supporter of the Hand on Heart Charity says "It's very important to make people aware of cardiac arrest. Heart disease is in my family. I'm very appreciative of the work Hand on Heart does to help schools like this everywhere."

Hand on Heart is all about educating children with the knowledge and skills to save a life. It is a little known fact that 12 to 15 young people die every week from cardiac arrest in the UK, with around 270 each year dying at their school. The only definitive treatment for someone in cardiac arrest is early access to an AED.

For every minute someone is in cardiac arrest, their chance of survival reduces by 10%. Outside of hospital, the UK survival rate for cardiac arrest is only 6%. However, if an AED is available, and used within the first three minutes, their chance of survival soars to 74%.

Do you know a school that needs a defibrillator? Every month, Hand on Heart offers the public the chance to nominate their school to win a free Defibrillator Package. Please see their website www.handonheart.org for details of how to enter.

As part of their ongoing commitment to this very deserving charity, AED Safety Services would like, where possible, to offer free Basic Life Support awareness courses to local schools and community projects. Please contact Alexandra at alex@aedsafety.co.uk for more details.
