W.I. first meeting of January

It's Jolly January – what are you going to do to have Fun?

January is a rather bleak, blessedly boring, and some might even go so far as to say a dreadfully dull month.

On the other hand, Audlem ladies often find delight in all manner of things odd, peculiar, or downright strange. This is why we've spent a good deal of time tracking down some rather unique things to do to lighten one's sagging spirits at this time of year.

For those with short attention spans, tendencies to daydream frequently, or desires that extend beyond watching paint dry, we recommend participating in one of this month's unusual events, yes, it's the Audlem Women's Institute first meeting of the New Year 2015!

Our beloved Treasurer, Kath Disley, will be welcoming you all with open arms as you delve deeply into your handbags and produce this year's annual subs – in the appropriate envelopes please ladies – and whilst you are recovering from your slightly reduced bank balances, we'll be launching into a lusty refrain of 'Jerusalem' before settling down to listen to a few wise words from our Secretary Doreen Hubbard and our beloved Chairperson Lyn Nicholls.

This will be an exciting year for the National WI as we will be celebrating our centenary, so there will be some lively activities throughout the year!

However to start our January meeting, we have no less a person than Tom Jones! True, he will be speaking about 'A Guide's Life,' so may not be the famous Welsh singer, but we girls can dream.

Our monthly competition entails rummaging in your photo albums or digging out a postcard of
your favourite City. No doubt the afore mentioned Tom Jones will be judging these, so a strict dress code of short skirts or low tops needs to be observed!

Luckily tea and cakes will be served during the judging interval to allow our ladies to regain any lost dignity and to catch up on the latest Audlem gossip, sorry, news!

The WI is a great way of getting to know new people in your area and taking the opportunity to discover new interests. We are always looking to embrace new members, so come along and give us a try. You won't regret it.
