Why it pays to pay your car tax!

On Wednesday, following complaints from members of the public about an untaxed vehicle parked in Shropshire Street near the Methodist Church, PC Ken Maple arranged to have the car towed away. Recent legislation allows police to seize vehicles which are not insured. The driver must then pay for the removal and storage charges, and will not be permitted to reclaim the vehicle until he or she can produce a valid insurance certificate.

In addition to this seizure, fixed penalty notices continue to be issued to vehicles which park unlawfully on the double yellow lines around the Square, in accordance with the wishes of those who attended the last Community Action Meeting and asked for more robust enforcement of the parking regulations.
