Fly TippingParish Council

The Parish Council is dismayed to report that there has been an increase in fly tipping throughout the village. The Parish Council lengthsman is having to remove bags of rubbish left on top of, or near to the bins. These bags are filled with mixed materials, some of which could be recycled, and are not placed into the bins. This creates a mess throughout the village, as well as increasing the likelihood of attracting vermin.

Audlem is fortunate to have bins throughout the village, some of which are emptied by Cheshire East and some by the Parish Council. These bins can become full very quickly, particularly during village events and over the weekends, and using village bins to dump household waste which could be recycled, is irresponsible and unfair to other members of the communuty.

The Parish Council employs a lengthsman to keep the village clean and tidy. Not all villages have a dedicated lengthsman, and the Parish Council is saddened to hear that these bins, which are emptied using a service that residents pay for via their council tax, are being used by persons who are choosing to dump their household waste rather than taking it to the tip or recycling it.

If you witness someone fly tipping, or discover waste in the village, please contact the Parish Council. This problem needs to be addressed as soon as possible, and residents are reminded that high levels of fly-tipping can lead to "urban decay," which discourages investment in local businesses and reduces property values.
