It was a fittingly fabulous finale to a fantastic weekend. As promised, last night's Blues Jam saw many of Audlem's and South Cheshire's finest musicians playing the Festival out in real style at the Shroppie Fly. Led by Jim Kirkpatrick, they included Johnny Miller, Al Dean, Steve Lazzeli, John Gunstone, Carl Blunsdon and James Harrison, some of whom had played many Festival venues over the weekend and showed amazing stamina to even survive the night, never mind play blues and rock & roll of this quality. Most amazingly of all, a debutant teenage drummer called Elliott was called up to play and is clearly a real talent. And to cap it all, his proud father took to the mike and belted out two superb numbers. It was that kind of night!

A big thank you from Audlem Online to the Carnival and Festival committees for creating such a great weekend. It may have rained on your parade, but many said it was the best Carnival parade for some years. The art workshop's parasols and umbrellas were stunning although the weather called for greater emphasis on the brolly end of the spectrum! There were musical highlights throughout the weekend. The St James' school performance packed out the church and was said to be wonderful while Sunday night's music in the Lord Combermere will be talked about

for some time. And who will forget Mad Dog on the outside stage in Shropshire Street. And Blues Alley provided its usual varied and high standard of entertainment until the rains came on Monday afternoon.

Sean Webster and Lights Out By Nine, backed by Big Blue House and Afro Blue, provided great music in the Public Hall although ticket sales clearly suffered from the superb free music elsewhere in the village. And the art displays in St James' and the Methodist Church were of a very high standard and hopefully attracted lots of sales as well as interest.

After a weekend like this, it'll be tough getting back to normal!
