AudlemOnline has been serving Audlem and the surrounding districts as an independent Community website since 2005. It came about following the creation of the Parish Plan when villagers voted to have a website.
Bob Cartwright, our founder, took up the challenge and worked with John Gunstone of ThenMedia, the late Pam Seddon, and others to create a new website to bring to residents. It has become an Award winning website created to provide village news, information and promote businesses and groups in Audlem and the surrounding villages within 4-5 miles. It is free and totally run by volunteers.
Tragically Bob Cartwright passed away but the mantle was taken up initially by John Tilling followed by Alvar Jones and John Down. All three are the current editors.
AudlemOnline News is created from contributions sent in by local residents and is updated on a daily basis. AOL provides a Newsroom, Calendar of Community Events, Directories of businesses and local Groups, Features, Galleries, Chatbox, and Buy/Sell.
Interestingly the first news article we can find from our archives (see here), was about a protest meeting in the Audlem public Hall on the 28th July 2005, concerning a proposed development by Muller on conservation land in the centre of the village consisting of 19 homes and three retail units. How history repeats itself !!
AOL Website has nearly 2000 visitors a day, 60,000 a month and has developed a Facebook and an X page provided by ThenMedia technology, which has some 4.5 thousand followers.
The website became the winner of the Cheshire Community Pride competition in 2015.
The success of the website is a result of the contributions from residents, businesses and groups seeking to share information with the village. We thank you so much – we cannot exist without you. We would also like to thank ThenMedia who provide the underlying technology with tremendous skill.
We look forward to the future as part of this wonderful community.
AudlemOnline is powered by our active community.
