A packed meeting in Audlem Public Hall heard repeated criticism of the developer Muller for turning down an invitation to attend without giving any reason. The meeting on Monday 18th July had been held specifically to give Muller the chance to explain their controversial plans to develop the Canalside site in Shropshire Street, Audlem.

The meeting was attended by Alan Millington, Chief Planning Officer for Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council and local Borough Councillor, Rachel Bailey. An initial planning application by Muller to build 35 homes and two retail units on the site in Audlem's Conservation Area has already been refused but villagers are as concerned by a second planning application for 19 homes and three retail units.
