Happy New Year, I hope your Christmas was wonderful and 2015 has started well for you all.

We have had a busy first week back in school with all of the children returning to start new topics in their classes. Each class teacher has sent out a class information letter about the work your child will be covering this term, I hope you find these useful.

Our INSET day on Monday was focused on Philosophy for Children and developing children's thinking skills so they are able to reflect and consider a variety of viewpoints and 'big ideas'.

Some of our older children have already worked on some aspects of this work and children across school will be trying out some 'philosophical thinking' activities this term.

We also welcomed Miss Heywood to the school teaching team and several new children and families to our school community – we look forward to working with you all.

We begin our new term with four new Team Captains. Katie Francis (Lime), Maddison Matravers (Oak), Scarlett Lawrence (Rowan) and Fleur Varley (Alder) are our new Year 6 Captains.

I am sure they will do a terrific job leading their teams and that all of the children will be trying hard to earn points for their teams this term. Good luck everyone!

FASA news

The first FASA meeting of the new term will take place next Thursday at 2pm in the school hall. I hope many of you will be able to attend.

Thank you to all of the families who have donated to our Rag Bag Bin. Remember, any old clothes, shoes or covers that are donated are converted to money for school resources – your support with this is much appreciated. Please put all donations (in bags) in the Rag Bag Bin at the main entrance gate.

ABC Childcare

A reminder that ABC are once again working with school to offer a range of after school clubs for children at our school this half term. Please call Lynsey on 01270 669050 for more information. These clubs will run alongside clubs offered by school .

Nantwich Education Partnership

A reminder that our Partnership have organised an Internet safety workshop for parents to take place on Tuesday 13th January from 7pm at Willaston Primary School. The workshop will last approximately 1 hour.

No children are permitted to attend the workshop as sensitive issues will be discussed. Please let Miss Cooper in our school office know if you are able to attend so we can let the host school know expected numbers.

Reception New Starters September 2015

Do you have a child, or know a child locally, who is due to start school in September 2015? Remember the deadline for admission applications is next week – Thursday 15th January.

Finally

As we begin our new term I would like to thank the many parents and relatives who have contacted me with feedback about our wonderful Christmas events and about school life in general.

We really value all of your feedback. By continuing to work together we can ensure our school continues to be a wonderful place to be.
