'War Horse' (12a) is the big film to be shown in the Public Hall this evening, Saturday 7th April, starting at 7.30pm.

Directed by Steven Spielberg, 'War Horse' is a 2011 film adaptation of a 1982 children's novel set before and during World War 1 by British author Michael Morpungo. It was first adapted for stage in 2007.

Set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War, 'War Horse' begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him.

When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets – British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter – before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man's Land.

The film has been nominated for many awards and attracted excellent reviews. You can click on the link below the poster to see the official trailer.

Tickets are £5 and available from Audlem Post Office, Williams' newsagents and Hoc's Fat Pigeon. Or you can take a chance of a seat and pay on the door.

'The Exotic Marigold Hotel' will be shown in Audlem on Saturday 19th May.
