The new Audlem Online Vote Poll on pedestrian safety and pavements has inspired one correspondent to write to say: "I had a conversation with one Rob Welch, the senior engineer for Cheshire County Council at Area Highways office Crewe, in September 2004. I have a reference number for the enquiry."

"Points I raised were: lack of pedestrian crossings, particularly near the Methodist Chapel and near the Public Hall; the poor condition of the pavement at the corner of Cheshire Street and the service road to the Crown development where I got a wheel chair stuck; and no lowered kerbs at the junction of Windmill Drive and Telford Way. You will note that Telford Way has NO pavement at all!"

"He said pedestrian crossings were being installed at a rate of about one a

year. He said they would do a movements survey but has never got back to

me. Perhaps I'll ring him on the third annual anniversary of our conversation!"

A new Forum on the issue has also started so you can express your views more fully. Click on Forum on the top horizontal bar. To vote in the new Vote Poll, simply click on Yes/No or Unsure in the Vote Poll Section and then click on Vote Now.
