The Health, Exercise and Active Living Research Centre (HEAL - website) at Manchester Metropolitan University (Crewe) is looking for female volunteers, aged 60 years and above, to contribute to research into healthy ageing and prevention of early ageing.
The centre is studying how changes in muscle mass and strength are influenced by your genetics physical activity level and food habit, and how these affect your daily activities.
Volunteers will be asked to perform standing balance, strength measurements and body composition tests and provide a DNA sample (blood or saliva, whichever they prefer). Volunteers will be provided with a feedback booklet, and some advice to promote their healthy ageing based on results. These tests will be performed at MMU's Crewe Campus and last no more than 2.5 hours. The volunteers' involvement in this project will be invaluable in making links between the ageing process at the genetic level, and meaningful everyday function.
