Volunteers needed by Surgery

Local GP Barrie Hufton has written to Audlem Online to say: "I have received a request from the University of Manchester, Academic Surgery Unit. They have asked me to try to recruit 6 healthy women, born between 1954 and 1960. They are conducting some research in migraine: "the role of Venous – to Arterial Circulation Shunts and Spontaneous Emboli in Migraine."

The research has of course been approved by the Northwest Multi-Centre Regional Ethics Committee. Volunteers must be in good health and not suffer migraine. It will involve a single visit to Manchester for a simple non-invasive ultrasound test and a blood test."
