A vital car anniversary

Bill Consterdine's story about important car anniversaries on 31st March missed the most important anniversary of all.

On 21st July 1922, the Austin Seven was unveiled at a reception at Claridges Hotel in London. This was the first British "car for the masses", costing £120.

Around 300,000 were built up to 1939, in various shapes and sizes. Indeed, the first BMW was an Austin 7 built under licence.

So let's hear it for 90 years of the Austin Seven at the Audlem Transport Festival on 29th July!
