One of AudlemOnline's occasional article contributors, Bob Fousert, has come up with this idea.

Whilst mowing the lawns the other morning I came to thinking that if this Covid-19 lock down continues until an immunisation vaccination or some other miracle cure is found it could be well on towards the end of the year before the world as we know it gets back to some form of normality. And, in all probability, as things stand, there will be little chance of running the very popular annual ADAS Open Gardens event normally held towards the end of June.

This will be particularly sad as I am sure that many during this time of lock down and brilliant sunshine will be making the most of their gardens and I expect, obtaining some wonderful results. Therefore, I wondered if it may be of interest to get Audlem residents to send in photographs of their gardens over the coming weeks so that those who enjoy visiting and seeing other people's gardening efforts can still enjoy a virtual Open Gardens experience from the comfort of their homes.

As with the real thing any garden related picture would be welcomed, a treasured plant or bush; a favourite spot in the garden and even the 'Dig for Victory' veg or fruit plot. It would also make things more interesting if gardeners sent in photos of unusual plants or shrubs as a test to find the extent of people's knowledge or even to find out what that strange plant it is that has been growing in their gardens over the years.

So to get the ball rolling, so to speak, Bob has sent in a couple of photos of his garden taken over the last couple of weeks and a couple of pictures of plants/shrubs with which to test our gardeners.

The two plants for you to identify in the pictures below are the tall red plant in the centre of the first photo and the tree with flat green leaves in the second. Both pictures can be enlarged by clicking on them.
