A couple of weeks ago we published the ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) programme of walks for 2012.


A few gaps in that list have now been filled and this is the latest version:


14th January: Circular walk around Delamere and over Eddisbury Hill of approximately 10 miles. To be led by Tony Crowther.


11th February: A circular walk from Poynton of 10 miles around Lyme Park. To be led by Andy Davidson.


10th March: A Shropshire walk around Earl’s Hill of approximately 12 miles. Our route will take in Pontesbury, Snailbeach, Habberley (with its pub),  part of The Marches Way finishing with a sharp short climb up Earl’s Hill with a descent back to our starting point. Led by Simon Probert.


14th April: A walk 9.5 mile walk around Llyn Brenig, in the Hiraethog Region of Wales just of the A5. Possibility of good wildlife watching. Led by Howard Jones.


12th May: A walk from Capel Curig – details to be confirmed. Led by John Vickers.


9th June: A circular walk from Edale of 9.5 miles over Kinder Downfall and Kinder Scout with a total of 1870 feet of climbing. Led by Steve Elliott.


14th July: A 10.5 mile circular walk around the Goyt Valley including Cats Tor, Shining Tor (the highest point in Cheshire) and Burbage Edge. A total of 650 metres of ascent. Led by Andy Davidson.


11th August: A 10 mile walk from Llanberis over the grass covered Moel Eilio, Foel Gron and Moel Cynghorion returning via Brithdir. Two hills with a total of 3200 feet of climbing. Led by Peter Kay.


8th September: To be arranged. Led by Chris Roche.


13th October: A classic mountain in Snowdonia – details to be confirmed later. Led by Will Williams


10th November: A 10 mile moderate walk in the Wyre Forest from the Eymoor Wood car park along the North Worcestershire Way to Drakelow returning via Wolverley Lock, Franche and the Habberley Valley. Led by Peter Kay.


15th December: A circular walk in the Gnosall and Norbury Junction area of 7/8 miles – full details to be confirmed. Followed by the ARS Christmas Dinner in the evening.


ARS walks are on the second Saturday of the month. Short-ARS walks, normally of 5 – 7 miles in length and from Audlem or within a 30-minute or so drive, are on the fourth (and occasionally fifth) Saturday of the month.
