Turnpike Field Update

Further to Saturday's article (see here), it is the pedestrian gate on Shropshire Street that is being closed until the grass is cut. The gate will now be closed this afternoon (Monday 19th November) before it goes dark until the work is done which should be by Wednesday evening.

The reason that the gate is being closed for the two days is that the field is being cut free of charge by a local farmer and it allows him the flexibility to cut the grass as and when he can.

The section of public footpath 26 from Green Lane to the canal will remain open. However we would urge that anyone using this footpath exercises extreme caution if work is in progress. Advisory signs will be in place at both ends of the footpath.
