Turnpike Field Open Meeting

Thursday 28th February 2019

Despite the inclement weather, 46 members of the community attended the Working Group's Open Meeting..

The meeting started by members of the Working Group introducing themselves. Their chair, Steve Boyes, then briefly summarised the progress made so far:

  • Car Park investigations
  • Access – vehicular and pedestrian
  • Cheshire Wildlife Trust (CWT) and potential survey
  • Tree survey recently carried out
  • Himalayan Balsam clearance – to be done by hand in the June timeframe alleviating the need to use chemicals – volunteers will be sought!!

There were then a variety of questions that were answered by the committee prior to moving onto the more informal part of the evening.

Displayed in the hall were lists of the many suggestions for Turnpike Field. Each attendee was given 4 sticky dots and asked to put a dot against which they felt were the best/most immediate uses of the field.

As well as prompting plenty of discussion, the results helped to give a strong indication as to how these members of the community felt. Anyone who attends the Art Exhibition in the Methodist Hall during the Audlem Arts & Music Festival will be very familiar with this scoring system!!

There was also a display of a potential construction method being considered for the Green Car Park should this go ahead.

Following on from this informal scoring session there will be an official survey, to be published in the near future on AudlemOnline, whereby ALL of the community (including all of those that came to this meeting) are asked to submit their choices for utilising the field.

The scoring results and meeting notes can be found in PDF form above.

Finally it was agreed to hold a further Open Meeting in July.
