Now that the Christmas decorations are down, the relatives have departed (possibly) and life returns to some degree of normality, you may have time to listen to some of Audlem Online's podcasts.

We recorded some fascinating interviews with Commander Henry Curry and Roger Wickson plus an outside broadcast of a Gardeners' Question Time in the Public Hall. A number of other interviews need a little more editing but will appear in the future.

The interview with local resident Henry Curry features probably the most important weather forecast of the previous century in the build-up to D-Day in June 1944. Henry Curry was stationed out in the Atlantic feeding vital weather readings back to Britain while his ship was at great risk from U-boats.

Roger Wickson is well-known locally as an historian and narrow boat enthusiast. His interview looks back at narrow boats over the years and is a fascinating insight into life on the canals, so important a part of Audlem life to this day.

The Gardeners' Question Time was a technical challenge but the quality is excellent – you may even pick up some really useful tops from the experts that have been to Audlem for these very popular gardening sessions in aid of St Luke's Hospice.
