Trial and sentence a long time coming – but was it worth the wait?

A completely unprovoked attack in Audlem village centre in March 2005 which left a man unconscious and in hospital has just reached a conclusion – of sorts. Mark Parker, not a local, who was arrested soon after the assault, pleaded guilty last week and was sentenced to eight months in prison, suspended for two years. Doubtless the severity of the sentence, almost fifteen months after the event, will have all making sure they stay on the straight and narrow, knowing the full force of the law is waiting for them if they step out of line! It is fair to say that the victim, who lives in Audlem, is not amused.
