If you haven't been to the Audlem Festival of Transport before, and are wondering what sort of vehicles will be on show, one enthusiastic visitor has, on a couple of occasions, taken many detailed photos of a selection of cars.

The related website below the photo describes in detail an earlier Audlem Festival of Transport – and, of course, it's an even larger Festival now. Just click on the site title where you'll find photos of 90 of the 250 vehicles that appeared that year.

This is what Rick Jones, who created the website and who has participated in several events in Audlem, described the experience in 2005. For brevity's sake, we've edited his description a little:

A newish show on the events calendar is this friendly event that takes place in 2 Cheshire villages.

Entrants met up outside the White Lion public house in Hankelow, on the village green. A good variety of older vehicle turned up throughout the morning, with a few modern interlopers to vary the view a little. Most of the photographs were taken at this start point prior to the road run, as the vehicles are more spread out than at the destination field in Audlem.

We entered my Standard 10 on this event, a car that was built in 1957 and one that I sold a month or two after this year's show, its replacement being a '49 Austin Devon. The 10 was the only Standard car in the show I think. We joined in the classic car run behind the black HRG 2 seater, in the 1950s car section.

Many locals came out to wave and watch the old cars and lorries drive by, and plenty more turned up at the destination in Audlem to have a closer look at the cars on show.

All in all a very pleasant day out, hopefully we'll get chance to enter next year!

This year's event has the added attraction of at least ten historic narrow boats on the canal and, of course, a Spitfire flying over the Festival at 2.30pm.
