We, Parklands Day Nursery, recently put a "wanted" request into the buy and sell area for tomato plants.
We re-opened for all children at the beginning of June and wanted each child to be able to care for their own tomato plant and found that we had "missed the boat" as most shops had stopped selling them. The response from our wonderful village was fantastic. Not only do we have a tomato plant for each child, we have cucumber plants, chilli plants and even a couple of melon seedlings. The children can't take them home but we send out photos of the children watering them so that the parents can also be involved in watching them grow.
Over the years we've also amassed large plant pots for construction play, a water trough and a whole range of kitchen equipment for the children to use in their outdoor mud kitchen areas.
So, a huge thank you to all, Audlem and surrounding residents, who always prove to be so generous.
From all at Parklands Day Nursery -- staff and children.
