On Armistace Day Sunday morning, an elderly lady was leaving her home in Broadways, Audlem to attend the church service. Unfortunately, as she left the house, she tripped badly, went flying and was somewhat bruised and battered by her fall.
Three youngsters, thought to be about thirteen years old, happened to be passing. They immediately went to her aid, lifted her up and carefully helped her back to the door of her house. Before leaving they asked if there was anything else they could do to help.
Twenty minutes later, the 87-year old lady had a knock on the door and it was one of the young gentlemen checking she was alright. The lady was now feeling much recovered and insisted he took a little money so the three could buy themselves a small treat. The offer was immediately refused but was eventually accepted, possibly to avoid causing offence.
Some time later an envelope was pushed through her letterbox. It was a Get Well card from "The three boys who were pleased to be able to help". It was clear how they had spent the money.
If any of the boys are reading this, the lady in question would like to thank them from the bottom of her heart for their thoughtfulness. We suspect many others would echo that sentiment.
