Kevin Graham writes: "Very sad to read about Woody (see yesterday's news story on Audlem Online). This is my biggest worry about the village! I live at 44 Stafford Street and the cars and lorries hurtle past at well over 30mph. I witnessed a huge tanker on Thursday (snow day) doing 50 at least heading past my house into the village – it locked up as the coal lorry was parked up delivering! I saw a car overtake a van past my house, the van was doing 30.

"Who can I badger to stop this? The police need a speed camera in there. I worry for my dog – as with poor Woody they only need to escape once. So sad."

Joe Hoyles adds at 5.15pm: "Like Kevin, I see cars/lorries/motorbikes coming into the village on the Whitchurch Rd at 40/50 M.P.H. I have reported this to the police two or three times but never seen any action with a speed camera. As I have said before, I thought the Parish Council had put money towards a speed camera. Will it take a death to make something happen?

"Walking up the narrow path on the Whitchurch Road, you take your life in your hands. The 30 mph flashing sign is too far into the village – it must be over 1/4 mile from the 30 mph sign."

Billy Gibbons adds at 5.23pm: "Just to echo what Kevin Graham said really; my opinion, for what it's worth, is, some vehicles travel FAR too fast in and around our Village. I don't know who to badger either, I know someone that did though...but it did no good. You'll have to ask me about that when you see me...I couldn't possibly comment about that on here. Good luck."

Alison Davenport adds: "In response to people's comments on the traffic speeding through the village; I also live in Stafford Street and ring the police to complain about the speed of the traffic at least once a month. I have also asked for them to do regular speed checks but have yet to see this happen.

"The added problem of traffic automatically mounting the pavement when they meet oncoming traffic means that everyday I risk my life walking down to my car. I would also like to know who can we approach to sort out the warning lights that still aren't working properly, I reported this to the police three times a couple of months ago and they still haven't been fixed on the approach into the village on Stafford Street. Next time it could be a person that is killed then will they listen!"
